The Catholic university institute of Buea is a mission professional institution with its unique values. It is a christian entrepreneurial university and aims at training professionals with spiritual and moral values. It first opened it doors to the first batch of students in September 2010 and has continue keeping and outstanding reputation for it prepares students to be job seekers and not job searchers. BIAKA university wa opened by Dr Lawrence Francis Tonye Biaka to train medical personnels. It has the following post graduate programs; nursing education and administration, nursing informatics, geriatric nursing, mental health nursing, health promotion and community health education, family health nursing, medical parasitology and microbiology, chemical pathology, haematology and blood banking, pharmaceutical herbology, public health and biostatistics, nutrition and dietetics. HIBMAT offers professional courses to students at higher levels. It has a partnership with the university of Bamenda and some international universities. There are BTech, HND MBA and BSc programs in management, marketing, banking and finance, accounting and finance, human resource management,, transport and logistics management, engineering, executive secretariat studies, public service and administration, insurance, tourism and hotel management. This is a private higher education institution which is fast developing .It specializes in business studies and trains candidates for the HND in in accountancy, banking and finance, management and marketing. JSF POLYTECHNIC
JSF Polytechnic is a higher institution dedicated to providing 21st century entrepreneurship skills for students. They offer both HND and degree programs. Student can study accountancy, business and finance, insurance, marketing, management, architecture, design, journalism, logistics, media and executive secretariat studies. The main fee of JSF Polytechnic is 181,262fcfa. It is located at Miss Bright junction, Bomaka.
FOMIC POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY
Fomic polytechnic university is currently running schools; the school of business, engineering and the school of medical biomedical sciences both equipped with ultra-modern facilities and a dynamic teaching staff. It offers HND PROGRAMS and even MBA MSC programs in partnership with the university of Bamenda and the Swiss management center university of Switzerland. COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
It trains technicians and it is part of the University of Buea, though it requires a special entrance examination. Students who wish to enroll in the college of technology must have passed Mathematics in the GCE A levels. COT opens its doors every academic year for brilliant students who sit in for a competitive entrance examination before admission.
CAMEROON OPPORTUNITIES INDUSTRIALISATION CENTER COIC
OIC is the most renowned vocational training school in the whole of the south west region. It is a human resource non-profit making organization created with the aim of improving lives. It has a cheap cost of training. They teach young people and job seekers welding, driving, hotel catering, building construction, auto mechanics, furniture construction, plumbing and electricity, information technology.

WHY PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION?
Years before professional education was introduced, many people go to school and have master’s degree and even PHD but at the end, they have nothing to show for it. Some of them could not even defend these certificates in the job market. But with the coming or introduction of professional schools in Buea, students acquire skills before they can even graduate. Others use these same skills acquired in school to further their education and to also fend for themselves. Also, students prefer spending 3 years in the University of Buea to obtain their degree, then spending 4 years in a professional school to obtain that same degree. They consider it as time wastage.
Aside from these two main lapses, professional schools are good. If the government can step in to subsidies the fee of these schools or implement professionalism in the University of Buea, it will help to upgrade or increase the productivity rate in the job market. Since there will be high rate of competition because of professionalism. This will go as far as increasing output and revenue.
